Sangeeta Kilachand: Inspiration for me has been the vast techniques of embroideries and the dexterous weaving patterns present in Indian fabrics with detailed forms and elements of design motives really inspire me.
What was that one thing you learned as a lesson forever in designing?
Sangeeta Kilachand: Designing was a great learning experience for me..as I discovered India’s rich diversity in weaves and embroideries which were slowly dying out.it pained me and I began to strive relentlessly to save these artisans and their perishing craft.
This catharsis has made me evolve as a person..and today for me my work should be recognized.
What challenges have you faced all this while, learning and showcasing your Brand?
Sangeeta: My biggest challenge was teaching the technique of my flagship ‘MARODI’ embroidery from the Kutch region, to our Karigars from scratch. After a lot of improvisations, they are experts now!
What is “Fashion” according to you?
